Should we drill for more oil or spend more time and money researching and implementing a new resource?

I say yes to drilling - but no to "who cares about consequences" - I say yes to find another resource - but not at the expense of also using our own existing resources. I also say yes to bargaining with other countries for cheaper oil - but again, not at the expense of not diversifying our energy resources. Why is there not an integrated approach answer?

I was talking to my neighbor about this as they are contracting their oil bill for the upcoming winter, they seem to think that more available oil at a inexpensive cost outweighs putting any animal on the endangered list or even killing them off. I WAS SHOCKED!! Life has a balance, and one it must sustain, just like our oil, until we no longer require it, or find some way to manufacture it in a lab, we need to keep a careful watch on our limited natural treasures.
